24 Hopes for 2024

Inspired by Olu and Mei, I also want to make my list of 24 hopes for 2024. This is pretty much the same as my 2024 Vision Board on Pinterest. I think writing and envisioning my hopes and dreams for the year ahead has helped me a lot to manifest it all. There are many hopes, especially the “key” hopes and dreams that I wanted to achieve in 2023 came true because I wrote them down. I know it might sound late because it’s already February but I guess I still have time to work on it!

  1. I hope to get a better job with a better work culture and of course, a better salary. If not, at least in my current institution, my salary could increase for like 30 to 50 percent and there would be a substantial change in my current institution so they could improve the workers for a better work culture, salary, and human resources management.
  2. I hope to get a mentor to prepare a scholarship for my master's degree in 2025 and to help me grow better as a scholar-activist.
  3. I hope to know already what field of study I want to learn for my master's program next year.
  4. I hope to write more this year—whether it be a poem, story, academic writing, or opinion—and publish all my writings on my personal blog, online media, and academic journal publisher. This would be good for my portfolio.
  5. I hope to do handcraft, such as making beads accessories, and crocheting.
  6. I hope to read more articles and books, at least one article per day and 12 books this year, and join a book club so I can be motivated and share my readings with people.
  7. I hope to watch more movies, the exact number is 100 movies this year. I hope I can get to watch half or 1/4 of it in the film festival and keep track of it on my letterboxd + write a little bit of review.
  8. I hope to get a romantic partner that loves me hard and helps me grow as a better person, professionally, academically, and personally.
  9. I hope to maintain a meaningful relationship with my family, friends, colleagues, and even acquaintances.
  10. I hope to make or at least join a community where I can make friends and expand my network, pursue my interests, and contribute more to society.
  11. I hope to be invited as a speaker or moderator in some events, LOL.
  12. I hope to work more for activism.
  13. I hope to attend more discussion events so I can expand my knowledge and make friends.
  14. I hope to listen to a wide range of music and attend more concerts or music festivals.
  15. I hope to pursue my interests in social justice, feminism, media, culture, and technology religiously.
  16. I hope to gain weight and do more exercise regularly.
  17. I hope to improve my English.
  18. I hope to learn music and dance.
  19. Quoting from Olu, I want this hope to be my hope as well: “I hope to live more by my values—experimentation, rapport, joy, courage, sustainability, and justice— by doing things rather than just thinking or writing about them.”
  20. I hope to save more and manage my money better.
  21. I hope to travel to Solo, Bali, Yogyakarta, and to a place of nature.
  22. I hope to be braver in making a complaint and voicing my opinion and thoughts, not to be afraid of making mistakes and judgments. Be confident!
  23. I hope to have a peaceful, gentle, joyful, and kinder life.
  24. I hope to see a better world for our society this year, a lot of good things, peace, love, justice, growth, and improvement for everybody.
